Ho Chi Minh City was our first destination in Vietnam. First thought when we got to the city is “how the hell should I cross this street?!?” The city is very energetic and framed with kinetic river of traffic. And oh the thousands and millions of Vietnamese Dongs – might be very confusing, but at the same time exciting.

To be honest, we were really waiting for the day we go to George Town. Kuala Lumpur was just too much about shopping malls and skyscrapers for us. We finally hit the port and it gave us cosy feeling. The movie set-like mishmash of the city’s buildings and people is impressive and attractive. Western style skyscrapers and shopping malls gleaming above British Raj-era architecture, Chinese temples, mosques, street art, street food.

Short story

Kuala Lumpur is the capital and the biggest city of Malaysia. Although dominant religion here is Islam, as in most Asia countries here you can find a lot of different cultures, intercontinental cuisine and various sights. Kuala Lumpur is also an economic hub of Malaysia, therefore a lot of international companies from Europe, USA or China established their offices here.

So, we head up to part 2 of our journey which includes Philippines, Singapore, some more of Kuala Lumpur and Sweden.

Day 18: Flight to Manila, spending some time in the worst airport in Asia, one more flight to Dumaguette in Negros Oriental island and negotiation with taxi driver to take us to Dauin, Divers club where we are staying.

Day tip: Don’t stay in Manila if you’re travelling to Philippines. Just head up to any other island.
