3 days in Prague

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

It was Tomas 3rd or 4th time in magnificent Prague. We decided to visit this city once again because of it’s rich history and impressive sights. It was our short getaway for 3 days in between regular working days. And it was a blast!

Transport

As there are no budget flights directly from Vilnius to Prague, we took year to year advancing Lux Express group bus. Every month Lux Express offers some cheap destinations and we were lucky to book our tickets just for 64 euros roundtrip. All we can recommend is just to find over night bus, so you don’t need to spend beautiful day on the bus. We took off from Vilnius 5PM and arrived in Prague coach station 7AM.

Accommodation

This time we have chosen to rent a room through Airbnb and it was a great. We lived in a beautiful district 10 minutes outside the old town by tram. Firstly we thought that it’s a bit too far but in the morning we decided that living near the park and sleeping cosy and quietly is the best way to regain energy after all day walking. For 3 nights we spent 112 Euros.

Tip: Best way is to find a place with some breakfast included, doesn’t matter if it’s continental or just an apple but it’s hard to find good breakfast spot in the city.

Day 1

As we arrived to Prague early in the morning after all night bus trip, we took some time in our apartment to rest and started exploring city in the afternoon. As always, first day was dedicated to get to know the city, it’s districts, public transport. And a lot of walking. Did we say we loooove walking?

Sights:

Charles bridge – impressive and long bridge with numerous statues, street artists and musicians.

Astronomical clock – located in main square of Prague with performances every hour.

Jewish district – One of the biggest Jewish districts that we saw: cemeteries, synagogues and off course Kafka’s statue was probably the highlight of the day.

The best way to end the day in Prague? Glass of Czech lager and some street food! There are no better place in the city as Naplavka Riverbank just outside the old town which is a promenade near Vltava river with lots of budget friendly bars and restaurants.

Day 2

After early morning coffee and a bit of hangover, we started another beautiful day in Prague.

Sights:

Vysehrad castle – just outside the city centre, easy reachable by tram this castle is excellent start of the day because of the park which is inside the castle walls.

Wine food market – on the other side of Vltava to compare with Vysehrad castle. It’s like a little Italy in Prague. Go through the shop and you will reach food garden full of real Italian food – pizzas, pastas, fresh fish, meat. You can choose whatever You want from the stand and they’ll cook it for you.

Vltava islands – wide river with a friendly environment in numerous islands. Great way to chill in the middle of the day.

Letna park – actually not the park but a huge beer garden on a big hill from where You can see all the Prague’s old town and sip a beer as long as You want.

River cruise – when you want to lay back and enjoy beautiful view of the city – do this cruise. Better find smaller boat, you will feel like in your own yacht.

Restaurant Lokal – Simple dishes made just from the local products, beer counting and one is not enough. We didn’t get a table just when we came, needed to wait 15 min but we think it’s a sign of perfect place.

Tip: Don’t be afraid of distance between every object and use public transport. Metro when available and trams are the best choice, and the prices are not high. All inclusive ticket for 3 days cost 310 Czech Korunas (app. 12 euros).

Day 3

Let’s get back to the popular tourist sites of the city.

Sights:

Prague castle – It took almost half a day just go through it (we didn’t went inside to any exhibition). Is it worth it? Yeah, who wouldn’t be interested to see this magnificent building while in Prague.

Back to Naplavka riverbank for a beer and to the bus station for overnight trip back to Vilnius.
